Hi! My name is Tracey Van Gilder. I am a first grade teacher at Tainter Elementary. I have been teaching in the Rice Lake School District for 11 years. I have been teaching first grade 10 of the 11 years and I also taught 3rd grade for 1 year.
I grew up in Champlin, Minnesota and graduated from St. Kate’s in St. Paul. After graduating from college I began my teaching career in the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School district. I taught 2nd grade there for 3 years. During my first three years of teaching I also received my Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota. After that time, I took 10 years off to raise my two children.
I currently live in Rice Lake with my husband Mike, who is a civil engineer with SEH in Rice Lake. We have two children – Cody is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota – Duluth, and Ellie is a junior at Rice Lake High School. Both of my children attended Tainter Elementary and have great memories of their elementary education!
In my free time, I like to spend time with family and friends outdoors, knitting, and going on adventures!
In my classroom, building relationships with my students is my first priority. Developing relationships will allow me to help that student grow academically and socially. I truly love what I do – it is amazing to see such growth in children throughout the school year!
