ACP Curriculum 6th Grade
During the 6th grade we will introduce students and parents to Academic and Career Planning. Students will be able to define ACP and create a personalized SMART goal. The primary focus of the 6th grade ACP curriculum is to help students learn about themselves and identify interests they have that can help them with planning in future grades.

Students will begin to compare and adjust performance to career aspirations.  The primary focus of the 7th grade ACP curriculum is to help students learn about themselves and identify interests they have that can help them with planning in future grades.

ACP Curriculum 8th Grade
During the 8th grade we will continue to develop students and parents knowledge of Academic and Career Planning. In the 8th grade students will learn about career pathways and various options available to them in high school that can help them pursue their career interests. Post-secondary options will be explored.  Students will further explore educational requirements and skills needed for 3 occupations aligned with their personalized skill and interest set.

ACP Curriculum 9th Grade

In the 9th grade, students will further develop their career planning abilities and learn how career choices impact their economic well-being.  Beyond the career lessons and goal setting completed during the Freshman Success course, all freshman will be participating in a coordinated career day with professional guest speakers from our community.

ACP Curriculum 11th Grade
The goals of the 11th grade ACP are for students to begin making decisions about post-secondary options and careers.  Students will learn about the cost of post-secondary programs and explore options to pay for college.  Students will visit Northwood Tech and UWBC campuses and choose to participate in program or student shadows.  Students will also learn about work-based options such as job shadows, internships, youth-apprenticeships, as well as develop job-seeking and job-keeping skills.

ACP Curriculum 12th Grade
The goal of the 12th Grade ACP is to assist seniors as they finalize their post high school plans by teaching students how to apply for college and sharing what financial aid and scholarship possibilities are available. We will also host a scholarship-writing workshop for interested students.  Other covered content will include updating a resume and letter of application.  All seniors will also participate in a Reality Fair that will simulate a life exercise of budgeting and planning – supported by many local business and professionals. Seniors are also encouraged to conduct college visits and refine their post-secondary plans.
