How does the referral process fit into RtI?

The Gifted and Talented referral process acts as an “accelerator” in the RtI process. If a student has specific needs, and we can prove with data that the educational needs are there and not being met, we want to do everything we can to help the student. The end result in the process is an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). If the SAT determines the data does not support moving through GT Referral Steps, the SAT will still continue working towards helping the teacher meet the child’s learning needs.
