Board of Education Committees
According to Board Policy # 185 the Board shall act as a committee of the whole, except for the following Board appointed standing committees, which are appointed by the President: Finance and Transportation, Policy, Curriculum, Buildings and Grounds, Compensation. Board committees have no power to commit the Board or the District to any course of action except as specifically directed by the Board.

The Buildings and Grounds Committee (B & G) is comprised of four Board members who are annually appointed by the President. This committee oversees and reviews initiatives dealing with the physical plant and operations of the District. The District Director of Finance and Operations supports and assists in the coordination of this committee.

The Board of Education Curriculum Committee is comprised of four Board members who are annually appointed by the President. This committee oversees, reviews, and recommends revisions and updates to district curriculum. The Director of Instruction and Learning supports and assists in the coordination of this committee.

They also review the monthly bills. The Director of Finance and Operations supports and assists in the coordination of this committee.

The Board of Education Compensation Committee is comprised of four Board members who are annually appointed by the President. This committee oversees contract negotiations between the Board of Education and employees. Groups include: Teachers, Custodians, Secretaries, Aides; Food Service; as well as other contracted employees. The District Director of Finance and Operations, as well as the District Administrator supports and assists in the coordination of this committee.

The Board of Education Policy and Legislative Advocacy Committee is comprised of four Board members who are annually appointed by the President. This committee oversees and reviews existing board policies, recommends new policies, as well as recommends any revisions to existing board policies.

The BOE Public Relations Committee will help to keep parents, students, community and alumni in the social loop of what is happening in the district. The committee will continue to find new ways of improving communications throughout the district and community.
In June 2025, the BOE Public Relations Committee dissolved. The RLASD Communications Committee was renamed to RLASD Communications and Public Relations Committee.Current Members: Bert Richard and Lori Zahrbock were appointed as the board representatives on the committee.

The mission of the Warrior Connections Committee is to increase student engagement and student interactions.
In June 2025, the Board of Education Warrior Connections Committee dissolved. The committee is now the RLASD Warrior Connections Committee.Phil Henkel was appointed as the board representative on the middle school committee and Nellie Scheurer was appointed as the board representative on the high school committee.
