Welcome to the Rice Lake Area School District’s Special Education Department. The Rice Lake Area School District offers a full continuum of special education and related services for students age 3 through 21. At the elementary, middle, and high school levels, students are provided services in their home school to the extent possible to meet their unique, individual needs. Students receive services in educational settings ranging from self-contained to fully integrated educational environments, both on and off campus. We offer an exceptional early childhood program (for students with special needs prior to 4-year-old kindergarten) as well as a work experience program for our high school students.

Individual Education Program TeamTo determine the best support for your child, we form a dedicated Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. This team is made up of people who know your child best and understand special education—including you (the parents), general and special education teachers, school psychologists, related service providers, and administrators. Together, we work as a partners to see if your child qualifies for services and to design a plan tailored to their unique needs. |

Our dedicated Transition Team helps students with disabilities seamlessly navigate two major life milestones: the move from middle school to high school, and the eventual exciting transition from high school into adult life.
